Assistive Technologies Child's Needs Assessment and Ecosystem in Kazakhstan
The Ministry of Education (MoE) in Kazakhstan is committed to accelerating inclusion of children with disability and special education needs in education in the country. The country advanced its digital development including in the education sector. One of its key priorities is to enhance the ability of general education mainstream schools to assess the needs of children in assistive technologies and ensure their use in learning and access to curriculum. In the digital transformation of education, digital public good solutions support children with augmented alternative communication as well as other functioning needs. The Kazakhstan MoE, Altynsarin National Education Academy and UNICEF Kazakhstan have partnered to implement digital inclusion programme starting with the initial baseline assistive technologies assessment of child’s needs and ecosystem. The report presents the findings of a rapid situation analysis of Kazakhstan’s assistive technology ecosystem in support of inclusive education. The analysis focuses on early childhood, primary, and secondary education, and aims to identify systemic gaps and generate recommendations for strengthening access to assistive technology.
